The article below gives you four different ways you can check the battery health status of your own iOS device.
Remember: Never use apps from the App Store. You should not waste time looking for applications that are capable of doing this. Since iOS 10 and above, Apple has blocked access to device’s data from third-party applications, and these apps are completely useless.
Option 1: Check the battery settings on the device
While many are still searching for iPhone battery tests on the Internet, you can see the health status of the battery through the settings on the device itself. Just go to Settings -> Battery.
This would alert you if the battery needs serviced, replacing it although this does not give you specific battery details.
Of course, without any warning, you are assured that your battery is still good enough.
Method 2: Check with the Console app on your Mac
If you are using a Mac, you can get more information through the Console app available on all Macs.
- Please open Console on Mac
- Connect iPhone to Mac with Lightning cable
- In the Console search box, type the term batteryhealth (if the search does not return results, unlock your iPhone screen).
After doing the above, you will get detailed information about the battery of iPhone / iPad as the number of charged, current status, … In the picture, you can see my iPhone X has a good health status.
Basically, you just need to know that the battery is in good condition. Other information is not so important to ordinary users.
Option 3: If you want to get more information about the battery, try the coconutBattery
If you want to find out more about the battery life of iOS devices, then coconutBattery is a great application for you to do this. Compared to the Console application, coconutBattery provides quite a bit of information and it’s also free. You can check battery information through the following steps.
- Connect iPhone / iPad to computer via Lightning cable
- Download coconutBattery for Mac
- Open coconutBattery, switch to the iOS Device tab.
You will see information such as current status, charge times, battery temperature, battery capacity, etc. You can also get information quickly each time you connect your device to your Mac via the on the screen.
Although this information is quite useful, this software is only accurate if your iPhone or iPad device has not been restored to its original state. In the case of a restored device, this app does not provide accurate results. So, if your device has not been restored, you can rest assured with this application.
Method 4: Contact Apple
You probably do not know; it is Apple can run diagnostics on the battery health status directly on your device. You can go to any Apple Store or contact Apple Online Support.
They will let you allow them to run a remote diagnostics program on your device and you will be able to get the most accurate information about your battery health status. If you think you have a battery problem then this is probably the best way you can do it.
If you are not using a Mac, you can check the battery status with a 3rd party software called 3uTools. This software runs on Windows and it also gives out quite a bit of information. However, I do not encourage you to do this because it is unofficial.
